The Light of the World...

Every so often, our gracious God Yeshua smiles upon me in a way that probably only I can appreciate. ;)
Being an electronics engineer and student of Scripture, the sciences, history & such, an epiphany (eureka!) such as this one I had while driving to work (during which time I use to pray & meditate...I can multi-task & drive, too!) would only have special significance to someone like me.
It occurred to me how simple our act of faith is by a mental illustration (in my mind) of the most basic of electronic circuits; the lamp circuit. This circuit consists of only a power source, a switch, wires, and a light bulb.
Imagine with me if you will this circuit in a dark room (it's not hard since we have a house full of them). In spiritual terms, you & I are the dark room, filled with sin, deceit, the hidden things we don't want brought to light. GOD is the entire lamp circuit; power, switch, wires & light bulb. Individually, God the Father is the power, the switch is the Holy Bible, the wires are the Holy Spirit, and the light is Adonai Yeshua ha' Meshiach, our Lord Jesus the Christ.
Verses of Scripture came flooding into my head as the picture unfolds:
"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." Jn 8:12
"And this is the condemnation, that the light is come into the world, but men love darkness rather than light, because their deeds are evil. For every one that does evil hates the light, and neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God." Jn 3:19-21
"To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me." Acts 26:18
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes..." Rom 1:16
"Your word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Ps 119:105
And many more, but let me get to the point...
In this life, we have a choice, to live in light...or darkness.
Some may seek the light, but never find the switch. Some may turn on the light for a time, but it is too painful for their eyes. They find more comfort & ease of conscience in the dark, so they turn off the light. Some may scoff & ridicule the light, saying this light isn't for them, and remain in darkness. Only those with a truly repentant heart & mind toward the light will choose to live in the Light and desire the radiant fullness to penetrate within & without.
The Word of God is the switch by which all of GOD is activated when we choose to receive the light. The Holy Spirit is the agent which carries & delivers the light to us. The person & redemptive work of Yeshua ha' Meshiach is the Light of the world which shines upon us and in us. The circuit is complete, and GOD is satisfied.

Since this room of darkness is our heart, mind, body & soul, it is an individual decision to receive the Light. No one may or can turn on the switch for us, we each must choose & act. The act is to look unto the Light as revealed by GOD the Father & Holy Spirit through the switch & sword, the Word of God.
"But when the Comforter has come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of me." Jn 15:26
"when all of you received the word of God which all of you heard of us, all of you received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually works also in you that believe." I Th 2:13
" looking to the Author and Finisher of our faith, Yeshua, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, "and sat down at the right" of the throne of God." Heb 12:2

A simplistic allegory to be sure, yet so poignant of GOD's plan & purpose for mankind. Our part is to be the willing participant, it costs us nothing, but cost Him everything...
"the LORD has laid on him (Yeshua) the iniquity of us all." Is 53:6
